Cultivate Training Objectives:
Cultivate is not a class, it is training. The goal is to prepare and mobilize each participant to start, grow and multiply a church out of the culture. Success is not completing the training. Success is doing what the training has prepared you for – starting, growing and multiplying a church out of the culture.
We believe a well-prepared leader will:
- Know the Biblical foundations for starting a new church and be able to apply them to their own life and ministry context.
- Be committed to and competent in serving the physical and spiritual needs of others, connecting them into community and helping them grow and multiply as disciples.
- Use available resources and tools to increase the effectiveness of both their life and leadership.
We have designed the Cultivate training to develop these qualities by providing:
- A Biblical Foundation: The training will communicate and develop convictions for the Biblical truths that guide the formation of a new church.
- An Effective Strategy: The training will provide tools for developing a strategy to start a new church that effectively reaches people far from God.
- Practical Tools and Resources: The training will provide leaders with tools and resources to develop and implement their unique church planting strategy.
- Challenging Peer Interaction: Each participant will be part of a small group to share ideas, get feedback and be encouraged.
- Accountability for Implementation: The training, in combination with one-on-one coaching, will provide accountability for implementing the plans participants develop.
Cultivate Training Plan
Each monthly theme will include the following:
Video | A teaching video for each unit will be available for online viewing. |
Live Webinar | Experienced practitioners will provide insights into their own experiences and experiments – what worked and what didn’t and what they’ve learned along the way. |
Group Discussion | A monthly online meeting in groups of 4-5 participants to share ideas for application and implementation. |
Idea Bank | An online database of resources and tools will be provided. Participants are encouraged to use the Idea Bank to share resources they find valuable. |
Reading | Recommended reading will provide valuable content for each theme. An online forum will provide a place to discuss the recommended reading. |
Activities | Participants will be given activities to practice the concepts and skills they are learning in their own church and community. |
Worksheet | Theme worksheets will help participants think through issues essential to creating a unique out of the culture strategy in their context. |
Cultivate training has been designed to allow each participant to choose how much time they invest in the process. The more time and energy each participant invests in training, the more they will learn and grow, however, each participant must weigh the benefits of training with their specific goals and competing demands. The following table provides some guidelines on the time required to participate in the various aspect of Cultivate training.
Watch, listen and learn | 1-2 hours a week |
Includes watching all recorded content and participating in all live webinars and discussion. | |
Read, discuss and apply | 4-5 hours a week |
